Solar, Battery & EV Charging
This Waikato home is a great example of what a modern Waikato solar installation can deliver when solar generation, battery storage, backup power and EV charging are designed as one integrated system.
The homeowners wanted to reduce their reliance on grid electricity while retaining their existing solar system. They also wanted battery storage, whole-house backup and high-powered EV charging.
Incon installed a new 18.48 kWp solar system, integrated the existing 7 kW solar system, and added a complete Sigenergy energy management solution.
The System

The existing solar was integrated into the new system through the Sigen Gateway Smart-Port, allowing the homeowners to retain their existing investment while significantly increasing their overall solar generation and energy storage capacity.
Real-World Solar Performance
The Sigenergy monitoring system shows the installation has generated 26.97 MWh of solar energy to date (11months).
These figures demonstrate the substantial amount of renewable energy being generated on site, with battery storage helping the homeowners make better use of their solar energy.
Whole-Home Backup
Energy savings weren’t the only priority for this Waikato solar project. Since installation in October 2026, the homeowners report that they haven’t noticed a power outage inside the house, despite outages in the surrounding area associated with ongoing lines-company upgrades. The whole-house backup system provides an additional level of energy security when the grid is unavailable.
Solar Waikato – Designed Around How You Use Energy
This installation demonstrates how solar Waikato homeowners can combine solar panels, battery storage, backup power and EV charging into one integrated energy system.
With 25.5 kWp of total solar, 18.08 kWh of battery storage, whole-home backup and a 25 kW DC EV charger, this Waikato installation provides a high level of energy generation, storage and independence.
